    1. Hi Joshua,

      Thanks for your comment.
The library strike is still on.
If it continues through to next Thursday March 29, which is our next meeting, we will instead meet up at the Second Cup, in North York Centre (main level, across from vendor’s market).

  1. Reminder — Next meeting date – April 12 – is also the date of a workshop by Elizabeth Ruth entitled “Creating a Powerful Believable sense of Place in your Stories” in the North York Library Auditorium – 7.00 to 8.30 pm.
I will leave the writer’s meeting for the workshop at 7.00 pm

  2. As it were, I have a operation I need to go to at 3:30 on April 12. I’m not sure when I would be able to check myself out of the hospital, so I may be late, or may be unable to attend the upcoming meeting. Sorry 😦

      1. Actually scratch my earlier comment, doctor just rescheduled it. so i’m good to come on Thursday.

  3. Can’t make it to chair meeting on May 31. Bad flu, don’t want to share my germs. Sorry
Hope I am able to post this correctly

  4. Hi Joshua, Would you please post the remaining dates in 2013: May 23, June 13 & 27 (social), September 16 & 26, October 10 & 24, November 14 & 28 and December 12 (social)? Thanks!

  5. New guy here. Just to clarify, there’s one meeting left in June on the 27th, and the following one will be… in September? No meet-ups during the summer, correct? Lastly, just to reconfirm matters, meetings function on a drop-in basis, yes? So no appointment required? I’ve never attended a session so I just wanted to make sure.Thanks.

    1. Hi Kristopher,
Sep. 12 is our first meeting for the fall. There are no meetings in the summer. Yes, just drop in. Bring something you’d like to get some feedback on.

  6. Hello,
I’m looking for a writers’ group to join, and was wondering how to go about joining for one of your meetings…is there a contact person I can talk to?

  7. North York Writers:
At our meeting this evening, November 27, 2014, we agreed to cancel the December 4 meeting, since it is too soon. We will meet, according to schedule, December 18, but not at the North York Library. As is our custom, we will meet at a local restaurant… to be announced on the blog… at 6:30 PM December 18. Please prepare a short (less than one page, double spaced) flash fiction piece or a poem that in any way addresses the topic “BAD SANTA”. You can also become a bad Santa and write on an entirely different topic, if it is entertaining and clever… and of course well written.

  8. In Home section, under Frost Bites Launch, it says leave comment below if you are attending launch, however there is no place below the post to leave comment

  9. It is September, 2015, and we have held the first meeting after the summer (Sept 10). Seven individuals (3 returnees; 4 new) showed up, and 4 of us read original writing. The turnout was rather disappointing, especially since numerous past participants did not show. Hopefully, they will come to our next meeting, September 24 and bring copies of their original writing for us to read and discuss together. We also discussed the schedule for 2016 and communicated afterwards with Muriel Hart, the librarian who coordinates our activities.
Please note that I will have to miss a number of sessions this year and, therefore, I do not want to serve as the de facto chairman of the group. I chaired the first meeting just to get us started. I look forward to a lively year. Please come and help us help you with some positive criticism of your new writing.

    1. 7 attendees is not too bad Richard. I’m sure more people will come as the days continue. I was unable to attend this September due to prior engagements. though I hope to attend (and blog) in the future.

  10. I wanted to let you all know that I will not be attending the meeting this evening. However, I hope to attend some of our upcoming gatherings. Until then, all the best.

  11. Hello, I am new and interested in the meeting scheduled today, but I found this note on the library website:
    Service Update
“The library is closing at 5:00 PM Thurs. Jan. 28/16 due to a power outage. Our apologies for the inconvenience.”
Does it mean that there is no meeting today?
