June is a prolific month in the literary world. IFOA & Word on the Street is doing something fun, quite a few launches and readings are going on. To add to the excitement, it would be my great pleasure to present to you.
Descant launch and The This & The That Simultaneous launch!!! 😀
Two different places on June 17, 2014 at 7:00pm!!!
At the same time if that isn’t any clearer!!!
Okay, first I’m not crazy, I just like saying Yah!. I am aware that we haven’t mastered teleportation technology (yet), but humanity has grasped the next best thing. Awesome Awesome luck that they are happening only a 5-minute walk away from each other.
The Descant launch is happening at the Pauper’s Pub and I won’t be banging on the drum of how awesome Descant launches are, I’ve banged on that drum so hard it’s already broken through the skin. (Scandalously cheap issues by the way to beat it on the rim a little)
The This & The That launch is happening at the Victory Cafe a book of short fiction. Note that I didn’t say short stories as “The This & The That” is more short vignettes or short flash, or in layman stoners terms, random crap that range from a sentence to a couple pages long of weird people doing quirkifying, brain-dropping, doing wacky wacky wacky wacky…. (insert wacky until your brain drops out)
Personally I plan to begin my day at the Descant launch, making small talk, small being whatever words I have left after stuffing my face with Descant’s snack buffet (p.s. Descant launch and Brick launch being the only literary events considerate enough to offer free food) then after getting a taste of the first reading, diddle off to the “The This & The That” launch for a night of hugs with the author, listen to him read, then go back to see how Descant is getting on with the raffle and pretend I was there all along.
Yeah it kind of feels like I’m going on a double date, except the girls don’t know about each other, and it’s just me goaling for a threesome at the end of the night. Either way, ignore the sexual metaphors, choose one over the other, go both ways if that’s your thing. But it’ll be fun night if you choose to make it fun.

p.s. due to going overboard and crazy in my civic duty by working at a polling booth (if Fisherville Middle School is your voting location, please vote to come say hi!), I won’t be available on the June 12th meeting, so for those who thought they could just tell me they are going to the Summer Social , ah NOPE. You’ll have to comment on the Summer Social 2014 Entry.
