Hello Dear Writers!
For those who I have never told, I did a internship with Descant, one of Toronto (and Canada’s!) oldest and most respected literary magazines, Descant magazine. Beyond free magazines, and a great learning experience it has also got me into the ins of cool stuff that happens in Toronto.
And currently they just released a new issue and are going to be host a launch party where they invite contributors (who are all well-respected and in the top of their game) to come and read an excerpt of their work.
Now for a bit of introduction, Descant magazine is a magazine that has been able to publish a whole variety of different subjects, from speculative fiction to the city of Berlin, and ranging from fiction to nonfiction to artwork. So basically if you get a piece of your work in, it’s akin to getting into the Fiddlehead, but you can actually join in the launch party instead of wishing you lived in New Brunswick when you receive a contributor’s copy in the mail.
See what I’m getting here? I wish to invite you guys to come along and to get a glimpse of Toronto’s literary community.
So tomorrow (well technically today as I’m writing this) I (finally) have the chance to stick my mug into the group and will make this offer personally to everyone who wants to attend a little field-trip.
