So in the last meeting I leaked the secret identity of the mysterious “North York Writer” who has been writing these witty and ever so clever wordplay exercises (Yes I confess it was me! MuHahahahaha!!!), mostly because John asked but partly to assuage anyone who has been staring at their ceiling after midnight, pondering this mystery as strongly as the mystery of why the first three books of a popular series are never available at the North York library. Now rejoice in knowing your nights will be well-rested again.
And rejoice further for I am looking for more North York writers to join my rank.
So, serious now, I have been doing these for, let me check… oh since late October of last year, we’re coming up to the first year’s anniversary of my wordplay exercises [insert honking party horn here] Yah!
Okay really serious now, for almost a year I’ve been the main (read: only) North York writer blogger, writing one to two, mostly one, post(s) a month which are so-called “Wordplay” exercises. I finger quote “Wordplay” not to be cute but Wordplay, in its proper purpose, are writing exercises to help write; but if proper writing exercises is a serviceable Toyota, mine are more like the sofa car. They are no less entertaining (I hope), but they are more my scattered thoughts that are somehow related to writing than actual writing exercises. So here is where I need your help!
While hoarding the blog for myself has been fun (by the way did you know if you Google “North York writers” this blog is the first link?), it would be more fun if more North York writers could stretch their writing fingers and become bloggers; writers who should have more say on what’s being posted on their blog and make sure that some nutjob isn’t using the façade of offering writing exercises for his own personal ramblings.
That said if you have anything you wish to blog about i.e. book reviews, zine reviews, cool poetry to share, upcoming or past literary events, the addresses of famous writers we could stalk or some actual wordplay exercises, anything at all really, please comment below with your email and your name and I’ll get back to you or, even better and more convenient, just come to the next group meeting (Oct 10) with your interest and we can discuss it further.
